This page lists what runs when you browse Heavenly Puppies, what each service collects, and what we keep if you write to us or subscribe.
When you browse
There is no cookie banner here. These services load as soon as a page opens:
- Hosting. The site runs on Pressable, a WordPress host owned by Automattic. Like any web host, its servers see your IP address, the page asked for and your browser type when they deliver a page.
- Our host’s visit counter. Pressable counts visits on the sites it hosts with a small script from secure.gaug.es, which Pressable describes as Fathom Analytics, previously known as Gauges. It set no cookie in our test. It receives the page address, the page you came from, the page title and your browser type, and Pressable says it tells visitors apart with an anonymous code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day.
- Google Analytics. Loaded directly by an analytics plugin (MonsterInsights), it records which pages you view, how you got here, and your device, browser and rough location. It sets two cookies on this site, _ga and _ga_QMMM1WMJPN (Google sets them for two years; Chrome caps cookies at 400 days, about 13 months, and Safari deletes cookies set this way after 7 days without a visit). Your browser contacts Google, so Google receives your IP address; Google says Analytics doesn’t log or store it, and uses it to protect the service and to tell roughly where visitors are. This site doesn’t switch off Google’s advertising features: in our test Analytics also contacted stats.g.doubleclick.net, one of Google’s advertising servers. We haven’t been able to check how long this Analytics property keeps event-level data.
- Jetpack Stats. A page-view counter from Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. Automattic says it receives your IP address, your browser, the page and the page you came from, keeps those records for 28 days, and doesn’t show your IP address to us. It set no cookie in our test.
- Google Ads. The site carries our Google Ads tag (AW-961226330), which counts a tap on our phone number as a result of our search ads. Our Google Ads account keeps no remarketing lists.
- Images and scripts. Many of the site’s images and scripts load from WordPress.com’s content network, run by Automattic, which receives your IP address and browser when they load.
- Facebook. Pages load Facebook’s script and its Like buttons, so your browser contacts Meta’s servers, which receive your IP address, your browser and the page you’re on, whether or not you have a Facebook account. In our test no Facebook cookie was set for a browser that wasn’t signed in to Facebook.
- Google Maps. The map showing where we are, and the place details, reviews and photos beside it, load from Google Maps, which receives your IP address and browser.
- Store plugins. Two plugins meant to share our product list with Google Shopping (Kliken) and with Facebook (Facebook for WooCommerce) are installed but not connected to any account, and the Facebook pixel isn’t set up. Kliken still loads a small script of its own on our pages that can read what’s in the cart.
- The store’s own cookies. The store software (WooCommerce) sets several cookies whose names start sbjs_ to remember how you arrived (the site or campaign you came from) and basic details of your device; sbjs_session lasts 30 minutes and the rest end when you close the browser. In our test Automattic’s software also set tk_or (about 13 months), tk_lr (a year) and tk_r3d (3 days). Automattic’s cookie list describes cookies named like tk_or and tk_lr as referral cookies used to analyse how visitors arrive; it doesn’t list tk_r3d. The cart keeps a small record in your browser’s storage, and Facebook’s script keeps one there too (fbapc_ followed by its app number).
- Fonts. The typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google’s servers for them. Like any web request, that sends Google your IP address, your browser type and this site’s address.
How to say no
Nothing on this site depends on these services. Block them and every page still works.
- Most of them at once: a content blocker with the standard privacy lists (uBlock Origin, for example) usually stops our host’s visit counter, Google Analytics, Jetpack Stats, Facebook’s buttons and the advertising tags. It usually does not stop Google Fonts, and nothing stops the host’s request logs. Blocking cookies in your browser stops the cookies, but the services still receive your visit.
- Google Analytics: Google’s opt-out browser add-on (for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge) stops Google Analytics from using your visits on sites that use Google’s standard scripts. It doesn’t affect the other services listed here.
- Do Not Track: don’t count on it. Pressable says its visit counter respects it, but Fathom’s documentation says its script ignores it unless that’s switched on, and we can’t see that setting.
When you write to us or subscribe
- Email updates: a subscribe form from follow.it, an outside email service, takes your email address. follow.it uses it to send you notifications of new posts, under its own privacy policy.
- What we keep: what you type into the contact form (your first and last name, email address, phone number and message), with the time, the page you sent it from, your IP address and your browser. It is stored on this site with no set deletion date, and emailed to us.
- Want it deleted? Ask through the contact form and we will delete the entry on the site and our copy of the email.
Orders and accounts
This site shows our puppies and supplies, but it doesn’t take payment online: no online payment method is switched on, so no order can be placed here, and the account page has no sign-up.
What we never do
We don’t sell or rent anything about you, and our Google Ads account keeps no remarketing lists.
